Bangladesh Construction and Wood Workers Federation – BCWWF

Bangladesh Construction and Wood Workers Federation-BCWWF was established in 1996 and it consists of 7500 members in total. BCWWF is a trade union organization having membership in Dhaka, Sirajganj, Rajshahi, Bogra, Chittagong, and Khulna. It’s aim is to protect the workers from all sorts of exploitation at the workplace including Migrant workers at home and abroad. Domestic workers are one of the major areas of BCWWF’s activity. It focuses on: Organizing, Capability building of the Trade Unions, Awareness-raising, Networking, Negotiation, Support in crisis etc. It has networked with many of the national and international organizations in supporting the workers at work. BCWWF’s working areas are in Dhaka, Sirajgonj, Rajshahi, Bogra, Chittagong, and Khulna. The orgnisation has almost 1000 direct beneficiaries. Over the years BCWWF’s has set some major milestones which are:  

  • BCWWF has been formed at the local level to ensure safe migration in the work area. 
  • Migrant workers were betrayed but BCWWF was able to recover their loss
  • BCWWF established Fair Migration Support at the trade union level. Marginalized people can easily take help from this center. Many men and women have taken information and advice on safe migration from this organization.
