BASTOB
BASTOB – Initiative for People’s Self-Development is a non-profit, volunteer organization that works with underprivileged members of society, particularly women, youth, and children, in many development disciplines. BASTOB has planned, explored, and conducted many activities in its quest to remove economic and social difficulties since its founding in July 1997, with the help of many persons and partners. BASTOB’s organizational network and experienced, active, dynamic, and motivated team have helped it become a continuously developing and successful institution in a short period of time. BASTOB as a development organization working in the areas of Safe Labor Migration, Sustainable Enterprise Development, institution building through integrated development, income and employment generation, health and health education, human resource development, education, relief and rehabilitation and promotion of culture and peace for the disadvantaged segment of the society especially for women, youth, and children.
Safe Labor migrations is one of the important projects of BASTOB that is implemented in Keraniganj, Nawabganj and Dohar sub district of Dhaka. The objective of the project is to ensure safe and secure labor migration providing financial support with dignity and establishment of the rights of the migrant workers in Bangladesh. BASTOB labor migration is focused on the following 3 issues:
- Contributing to develop knowledge and capacity of potential labour migrants to protect their rights and reduce complexities in the migration process;
- Reducing vulnerabilities, rights violation and violence against female migrants in the entire process of their migration;
iii. Integration, Improving livelihoods and economic condition of returnee migrants through skill development and institutional linkages.
Technical Capacity of BASTOB in implementing climate change, disaster risk reduction, relief rehabilitation.
