Change Makers
Change Makers, a leading Civic Education organization in the country, has been promoting civic education, human rights, good governance and democracy in Bangladesh since its inception in 2003. It is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization. In addition to the above-mentioned subjects, Change Makers has been addressing issues such as Right to Information, Bangladesh Constitution, Anticorruption Campaign, SDGs, Citizen Charter, Child Rights, Child Labor, Human Trafficking, Safe Labor Migration, Women’s Rights, Violence and Abuse against Women and Children, legal support, Awareness Raising, Community and Media Mobilization, Lobby and Advocacy at local/ national and international levels, research, and study etc.
Change Makers was a core member of the Bangladesh Counter Trafficking Thematic Group under the auspices of the IOM Dhaka regional office. On trafficking and migrations issues, Change Makers, along with other 3 partner organizations implemented the Actions for Combating Trafficking-in-Persons (ACT) Program supported by WINROCK International/USAID. The organization arranged several special talk shows to mark International Migrants’ Day in different years. Though it’s a Civic Education organization, Change Makers adapted human trafficking and safe migration in its activities as an integrated issue and teach high school, madrasa, college and university students along with other issues.
Since 2010 Change Makers is a core member of the International Migrants Day observing committee headed by the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment. The organization has been playing an important role in policy formulation, enactment of laws and different dialogs in relation to migration issues.
The organization has got institutional links with different agencies, coalitions, and organizations both at home and abroad.
