Films 4 Peace Foundation is a unique peace organization in 2021 that is working with a vision for a peaceful world without violence where everyone will get the opportunity to live in peace. F4P’s mandate is to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels, to strengthen the capacities of societies to manage conflicts and build peace by promoting youth leadership, community empowerment, responsible citizenship and tolerance and to end abuse, exploitation, labour trafficking and all forms of violence.
F4P focuses on Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion to promote peace in the communities because this aligns with our commitment to helping build a peaceful community in Bangladesh. F4P is also working to prevent violent extremism by educating and engaging youth and community people to address the root causes of violence and find peaceful solutions that are inclusive and sustainable. F4P is further doing Economic Wellbeing activities to create livelihood opportunities for community people through skills development and entrepreneurship because these align with our commitment to economic empowerment. It is doing Labour Migration, Trafficking and Refugees for evidence-based advocacy for the rights of refugees, protecting migrants’ rights and preventing labour trafficking at the local and national levels in Bangladesh. It is also working on Good Governance at the local, national and international levels through dialogue, media and policy advocacy to promote the rule of law, access to justice and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. F4P is focusing also on Children, youth and elderly people to empower children, youth and elderly people who are vulnerable to child marriage, labour trafficking, extremism, and abuse. These align with our commitment to empowerment. It works to promote peace by supporting women of all backgrounds and ages to participate in processes to prevent conflict and build and sustain peace.
In partnership with Bangladesh television, F4P started a television program for migrant workers’ rights protection to promote safe and orderly migration and ensure access to information and services for migrants since 2010. In the last five years, F4P has trained and mentored more than 300 youth volunteer leaders in Cox’s Bazar. More than 80% of the community people supported through F4P’s peacebuilding interventions have shown tolerance after taking part in our programmes. With F4P support, community people could address local issues of conflict and violence and such interventions have touched the lives of more than 100,000 children, youth and adults. More than 100 community youth from Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka have been trained on participatory filmmaking for promoting peace and justice. About 250 community members are working to reduce tension and promote peace under the Community Tolerance Promotion Group in Cox’s Bazar. 50 Youth who received youth leadership training through F4P now playing a vital role in leading social change and transforming conflict in their communities in Cox’s Bazar. 30 youth trained by F4P on research methodology and data collection have been engaged in data collection from the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar for evidence-based advocacy. F4P is the pioneer in participatory filmmaking in Bangladesh. It started from Cox’sBazar in 2017. The first national organisation, which did evidence-based advocacy through films, photography and research after the influx of Rohingya globally. F4P’s unique feature of blending media tools with advocacy adds value to their engagement with the networks they are connected to.
