Rights Jessore (RJ)

Rights Jessore (RJ) is a leading human rights organization in Bangladesh dedicated to protection and promotion of human rights, prevention of human trafficking and providing service to the victims of human trafficking.

Since its establishment in 1991, the organization has provided supports for victim rescue, repatriation, reintegration and rehabilitation through formation of forums, capacity building, networking and documentations of violations.

RJ working in 4P approach for addressing human trafficking issues. It mainly works for promotion and protection of Human Rights especially disadvantaged women and children, Combat Trafficking-in-Persons, Safe Migration (Both Male and Female migrants), Good Governance, protection of gender-based violence, protection of child rights, Disaster Management and Risk Reduction, Civic education for ensuring rights and protection of rights of Rohingya community.

RJ is working throughout the country with special focus on 10 south-western districts of Bangladesh. Beyond this, RJ expanded its collaboration to the middle-east countries including United Arab Emirates, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Jorden & the bordering country India and their human rights-based network for repatriation of survivors.

The organization has been established community-based prevention mechanism at union level through formation of Counter Trafficking Women Forum (CTWF) and, the ED of RJ received the AGFUND (The Arab Gulf Program for United Nations Development Organizations) International Prize for Community Mobilization on Combat Trafficking. RJ enhanced Capacity of 520 NGOs/CBOs and relevant government officers on Human Trafficking, gender and Safe Migration Issues, and repatriated 1121 (female) victims of sex trafficking and 277 labor trafficking victims from different countries and integrated 1107 directly, and also provided legal assistance to 273 survivors. RJ conducted policy advocacy for promoting victim witness and introduced video conferencing system and contributed to establish police monitoring cell to monitor counter trafficking interventions.
